- - Think color, as in matte red lip
- - Try shine, as in shimmering eye shadow, or glittery lip-gloss
- - Go statement with a bold trend, as in the elegant but dramatic eyeliner look
- - Want to be a little more bold? Try two out of three, like a statement eye, black or smoky, and shine or glittery highlighter on the cheekbones or a colorful cheek and a glittery eye shadow.

‘Tis the holiday
season and all of us are juggling parties, gifts and wish lists. Doesn’t matter
how chaotic the preparation is, we have to look our best once we enter through
the door. We wanted to share some great makeup tips offered by celebrity brow
specialist, Elke Von Freudenberg, to add some glam to your look. “The holidays
are the perfect time to experiment a little, and make makeup look ultra-glamorous
and elegant. Think color, shine or statement, but not all three.”
Enjoy!

Here at Radiance Spa we enjoy Community, this is one of the reasons why we have monthly Spa Night parties so people can come together and mingle. While we love the benefits of social media for keeping in touch with those who are far away, most people have cited that social media actually makes them feel worse instead of better. We believe this is because we were designed to be communal.
Think historically about towns, most have a main street where all of the shops, places of worship, and the schools could be found. Then the town built up around that main area, there was typically a town hall so that those villagers could come together. Radiance Spa loves bringing people together. This is why we are always looking for ways of bringing people together through Spa Packages and Parties, but also for new ideas on services to be offered. We want to cover as many of your spa needs as possible, so please feel free to comment if there is any services you would like to see Radiance Spa begin to offer. We love constructive feedback.
During this Holiday season we hope you have a wonderful time with friends and family. We also hope that you stop by to see us very soon.

The Holiday season has arrived with with bells and whistles or rather snow and cold weather. Now is the time where we are double checking our lists and calendars as there are Holiday school programs to attend, work parties, and family gatherings and they all require us to bring our "A" game.
Glowing Skin
In a previous blog we mentioned the importance of hydration as well as exfoliation for winter skin. If you want glorious glowing skin, you need to schedule an appointment with one of our Aestheticians, but you also need to eat right whenever possible. Coffee, Sugar, and Alcohol can all dull the skin, add that to too many late nights and your Holiday pictures won't be as cheery as you would like.
We have a special for a Mini- Facials Consultation for $55. We also have our Natura Bisse Sparkling Facial which uses a carbolic formula to infuse oxygen into the skin which will leave your facial brighter for that special event.
Schedule at Party
One of our best spa experiences can be shared with friends. Have a family gathering, and looking for something to do that adds a touch of luxury to your gathering? Schedule a Spa Party at Radiance Spa! Massages, Facials, Mani-Pedi's are all available to you during a Spa Party, almost anything from our line of services can be added to your event. Relax in the Sauna while you wait with your friends, or order lunch up to one of the comfortable and spacious locker rooms.
We also offer His and Her Day's at the Spa (these include mini facial, massage, and mani/pedi's) Bachelorette and Bachelor Parties, Pre-scheduled treatments for the Bride and/or Groom, Sweet 16, or Pre-Prom Bashes, and we also have the ability to do Baby Shower parties as well with our Maternity massages. Other than limiting the number of persons receiving treatment during the event we are happy to talk to you about whatever event you are interested in hosting. We even can come out to your party or event and offer Chair massages and on site Mani/Pedi's.
Call now for information about how we can help you look amazing this Holiday season. 215-343-0350 ext. 6 or email info@radiance-spa.com.

While it isn't officially winter yet (with the wind on Sunday I know that is hard to believe), there are some important things to know about your skin and what it needs in winter weather.
Lack of Humidity:
I know we told you a million times during the summer to hydrate your skin during the summer due to your exposure to the sun. In the winter there is a distinct lack of humidity in the air in our houses and businesses. Most heat sucks up whatever is left and this causes our skin to begin to dry out and flake.
Hot Showers:
Did you know that when you take long, hot showers this can actually hurt your skin more in the winter than in the warmer months? If you struggle with dry skin be sure to take cooler showers as it will leave more moisture in your skin.
Layer:
The more skin you can cover from the elements the happier your skin will be. If it is frigid be sure to add chapstick and then a scarf. Use gloves and hats to protect yourself from the chill and your skin from chapping. If you are going out on a super sunny, snowy day, be sure to add sunscreen to your exposed skin. Just because it is winter doesn't mean you cannot burn, especially when skiing.
Eat well:
Vitamin B is a great way to replenish your skin. Eating foods like lentils, bananas, turkey, and tuna all help your skin fight against the lack of humidity. Vitamin C will help you remain healthier in the winter months when colds and flu can further debilitate our health. Try to avoid alcohol as it will dehydrate.

Home suggestions:
- Change to a mild soap that will not strip all the oil from your skin.
- Have lotions near by and use them throughout the day.
- Add a cool mist humidifier to your room at night. This will keep your nasal and throat passages moist and prevent sickness.
- Use sunblock when out in the sun for long periods of time. We recommend Coola.
Spa suggestions:
- You may find that you need extra moisturizer or a heavier one. Check with your skin therapist to see what is right for your skin.
- I would also be sure to exfoliate at least once or twice a week. Hylunia's Grape Seed Exfoliating Scrub is a great product as it is gentle and doesn't strip your natural oils from your skin.
- Body Treatments are another great way to clear off dead skin and encourage a healthy glow. For more information see our blog on Body Treatments here.

I don't know if it is just me, but lately I feel that every time I pass a shopping plaza I notice a new massage store. As someone who doesn't have a lot of extra cash lying around I will admit my first massage was something I purchased through GroupOn, but after talking with the business owner and the masseuse who gave me my massage I have had some reservations about these sort of businesses and offers. Now that I work part time at a Spa these reservations have only increased. What are these concerns you now ask (dare I hope with bated breathe)?
1. How much is the Masseuse actually being paid?
As someone who has frequently held part time jobs to help with college loans or for extra spending money I understand the value of a dollar. Many masseuses work at multiple locations, and sometimes out of their own homes. While you might be spending $50 on a massage, your therapist is only receiving a portion of that to take home- typically $10-20 dollars for an hour massage. Where is the rest of the money going? Well if they are working for a business they are being charged to use the room, and if they do not bring their own creams and sheets they are also being charged to use those. At most Spas the therapist gets a bit more because you are charged more, that is also why tips are so important. Remember they have to drive to each location they work at just like the rest of us.
2. What is the experience level at chains versus spas?
Getting one's foot in the door is often one of the hardest things for a graduate of any program, but for services like massage and other luxury items, this can be especially daunting. While your friends may be appreciative of your services they typically are not willing to shell out $50 or more to receive them. That means you need to find somewhere to work. Chain massage stores are one of the best options for some people, especially if they do not like strangers in their homes or going to the home of someone they have never met. However I will have to mention in the spirit of honesty that there are a number of highly experienced masseuses in some of these chain stores as they tend to be closer to their homes than some spas.
3. Atmosphere
Just like so many others I will admit that appearances are important. One of the things I like best is when you are at a Spa everyone is welcoming and that the facility is clean. Candles, bottles of water, and a changing room are all things that appeal to me. However after reading reports from others who have used chain stores and GroupOn coupons, not every facility has or can offer these accommodations. When you have bought an hour massage, part of that hour will be taken up by changing, and in your room as their are no lockers or changing rooms. This is fine for some people, for others this might be a deal breaker. Most Spas on the other hand do have extra amenities that sometimes you get for free: chilled water, champagne, light refreshments, lockers (with key), and showers if you still feel a bit too oily after certain types of treatments.
4. Discounts
I think one of the best things about the chains and GroupOns are the discounts for the user. However spas and there massage therapists at the Spas can offer discounts on services as well. When you purchase an 'x' amount of planned treatments typically the costs will be less, but you get to keep more of the higher end amenities. It never hurts to ask. Massage Therapists love it when they can see clients again, especially if you have meshed. The more time a therapist spends working on your person, the better able they will be to treat your needs in the future, this is why we stay with our general practitioners and dentists, not having to re-explain ourselves to each new person is a wonderful thing.
Concluding thoughts
I cannot say that one is better than the other, except to say that at a Spa the amenities and the fees going to the masseuse are going to be better (hopefully). The other plus for Spas would be that you can receive a number of additional services within the same walls. The Chain Stores will almost always win on the User fees front, as well as the diversity of persons within the building. A Spa will typically have 4-5 therapists on call, while a Chain will have double or triple that number.
(I will admit that I was hoping I would have more good things to say about Spas when I started the research on this post, but found through the conversations with our therapists and online reading that how I was going to write this article changed. Since our therapists work at both locations, they simply stated that they enjoyed they spas more because they tend to be more relaxed and pay better. But if you are writing on behalf of the User how many of them care if they have to change in the room and have a 45 min. massage for half the cost of the Spa's hour massage?)

Most of us know that we should exfoliate our faces, put on masks every once in a while and moisturize before we add foundation. But if we want glowing skin from head to foot, we need to do that to the rest of our skin. That is why body treatments were created- to help give your skin the love and attention it needs. So what is a Body Treatment?
Massages- This is probably the most popular treatment and most widely used. It works by circulating blood through the muscles and skin, helping to clear toxins from your muscles and joints.
Wraps- Body wraps come in a variety of formulas and methods. These wraps can be used for "back"-ne (acne on your back), can cleanse and exfoliate the skin, and can help with cellulite. If you suffer from dry, flakey winter skin this can be a great soother for your thirsty skin.
Radiance Spa offers a Natural Honey Wrap which exfoliates and moisturizers. A Mud and Honey mask that helps cleanse impurities and renews elasticity in the skin. For women suffering from hormonal issues our Balancing Herbal wrap uses grape seeds to exfoliate and herbs to help stabilize hormonal fluctuations. The Seaweed Detoxification Wrap helps to improve circulation and detoxifies the skin.
Scrubs: Stressed, tired skin needs to be renewed. Just like exfoliating your face leads to clearer, smoother skin. Scrubs for the body help increase circulation and remove rough areas. Soon we will be offering a Bamboo Scrub from Natura Bisse. This scrub contains natural bamboo micro-fibers. Its blended with essentials oils including sandalwood, clove, myrrh, incense, cardamom & black pepper. It polishes skin texture without inducing irritations & damage. It will be one of our most luxurious treatments- it shall leave you will feeling hydrated and super polished.

In a number of books, blogs, and movies Millennials have been characterized in a number of ways, however in almost all of them the one feature that remains is the word lazy. As a Millennial I take exception to this, but then I start to think about it a bit more, and I don't think that the term is always negative, but rather we are being lazy due to our choosing an incomplete term. Most Millennials are lazy by their grandparents standards mainly because most of us have grown up in cities or suburbs where we had no need to travel more than a mile to get anything we needed. (We also never had to do a ton of farm or yard work.)
Now at this point you are probably wondering where I am going with this...isn't this a spa blog? Why Yes, yes it is. Millennials are currently parents, and in the years of their life where they can grow the most professionally. Due to student loans, mortgages and smallish children running around we like to do things in the simplest and most environmentally safe way possible. We love the prices and convenience of Amazon Prime it is cheap, fast and I saved on fossil fuels because I never had to leave my house. Genius! On top of that I can spend the time I saved by reading a blog, signing a change.org petition, or pinning some great meal ideas to my Pinterest board. I would call that anything but lazy.
However this does present a problem when it comes to our skin care health, most Millennials will believe way too much of what they read online and in magazine isles. We love discovering new products, especially new organic products- that we can share via our social networks. We order online or go to our local Sephora, Ulta, or Lush to pick it and then it is always a hit or miss after a week or two. Instead of wasteing our time in this fashion it would serve us better if we instead went to someone like Daiva or Catherine at Radiance Spa and received a consultation about our skin, where someone with a license instead of a sales pitch lets us know how to best take care of our skin.
Or instead of going to see your doctor about stress related symptoms you can do alternative therapy and schedule massages at regular intervals. Most of our therapists don't really want to sell you something, but they do want you to continue to see them as they have studied the benefits of their trade. So many of the countries around the world use massage, saunas, and yoga/meditation instead of doctors to relieve themselves of their stress and that is definitely something we lack here in America.
I understand the costs related to spa and complimentary care can be above our income levels (especially those paying rent and student loans) but it is an investment in ourselves for the future. I would challenge those who go out with friends a couple times a week or those who eat out more than they stay in- instead of getting Starbucks everyday cut that in half and save the money for a monthly treatment, your muscles and skin will thank you for it.

Our lives are filled with distractions. Sometimes the distractions are family, children, work concerns; however sometime these distractions are self-inflicted. For most of us we remember the good old days where we hung out at cafes, over board games, or at the mall without constantly having to document every reaction. With Social Media, Smartphones and the overabundance of TV channels, we can sometimes get so distracted from the good, helpful devices and tools that we forget to focus on the more important aspects of our lives.
Friends, Family, Children, investing in other people. Being there for people in every sense of the word, that is how we can improve our lives and create a legacy for ourselves. Not the number of tweets, or number of followers. Investing in people is never a waste of time.

Celebrities like Rachel Bilson, Hayden Christensen, and Debra Messing are fans of the brand and as they are an international company whose products are sold to spas that love luxury and exclusive brands, we are so happy to begin a relationship with them. Look for more information on them in upcoming newsletters and on Facebook and Twitter.
While I was in Dallas, I was also able to go to Fort Worth and Houston. I loved Fort Worth and all of the cowboys and history! It was too hot, but it would be fun to go back. So now for some of the sites of my trip.
Love,
Daiva

A message from Daiva:
Can you imagine that summer is almost over.... Swimming pools, beautiful sun shine, heat and humid, beach...all have left a mark on our skin. Brown spots, clogged pores, rough, dry skin. How do you repair the damage and replenish our skin for the fall?
Celebrate the Fall and replenish dry summer skin with our new "Refreshing pumpkin facial", 45 min- 65$.
Pumpkin have the one of the best natural antioxidants as it contains high levels of Vitamin A and Beta Carotene, it helps to remove toxins that are stuck deep in pores and neutralizes free radicals. Pumpkin provides powerful antioxidants that support and helps to prevent skin cancer, as it is extremely rich in vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, niacin, magnesium, lysine, protein and potassium. You will see smoother and brighter skin tones resulting in healthier, glowing skin.
For those who need stronger treatments I would recommend having Microdermabrasion or one of our peels. The lastest generation of Diamond based microdermabrasion diminishes sun damage, pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores and coarse textured skin.
To get to deeper layers of the skin we have Vitamin C peels, lactic or glycol acid as well as other peels. For the best results I recommend that you talk to your skin therapist. There can be so many reasons why he/she recommends certain treatment. Peels improve the texture of the skin and increase the cell renewal factor, hydration, intracellular lipids, barrier function, moisture retention, elastin and collagen production. With the Fall sun becoming less active, now is the best time to start working on the skin.

We have been encouraging you to enjoy more health conscience choices for better living and improved health, but what do you do on holiday weekends when food will be plentiful, but most of it will not be considered healthy?
Tips:
Now time for a recipe! I would probably have the cilantro on the side as so many people dislike it, but check out the link as there are lots of pictures.
Braised Anatomy's Cowboy Caviar
Ingredients
1- 15 oz can corn
1 can black beans
2 avocados (cubed)
2/3 cup chopped cilantro
8 green onion stalks, sliced
6 roma tomatoes
Dressing:
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
2 cloves minced garlic
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon cumin
Mix first 6 ingredients together. Combine dressing ingredients and pour over corn mixture. Serve with tortilla chips.
Tips:
- Don't skip the event! Being with people and chatting and talking with them is so important to our overall health and wellness.
- Instead eat something healthy before hand so that you do not eat as much of the less healthy food at the party or event.
- Bring something you know you will enjoy and that others can enjoy. Whole grain salads, Fruit Salads, or veggie salads are great options to share with others.
- Smaller portions- for some of us the desire in our minds can overwhelm our tummy's ability to stretch and when we finally give in we binge. So take a small spoonful of everything and sample it all.

We are currently planning our next Radiance Spa party- probably September 26, and we want to introduce you to our guest for this event.
Meet Margaret
Margaret Cancelliere was diagnosed with MS about 7 years ago. But looking at her today you would be loathe to think that she is sick. Her skin glows, her hair only has the tiniest bit of gray, and her personality is dynamic. How can a woman with MS be so vibrantly healthy? We are about to explain a bit.
After her diagnosis Margaret began to look for alternative ways of managing her condition. In her quest she came across the idea of eating Raw mostly vegan food as a way of managing her MS. She began to study our bodies and our food choices and the correlation between the two. She is now a Life Style Consultant helping others learn lifestyles choices that can free them from their own medical conditions.
She begins with a consultation examining their eating styles and habits, their physical activity, and what stressers they are currently experiencing. She then offers a variety of suggestions- however the ultimate choice is always in the hands of each individual.
Typically she begins each client with a form of Detox, this can be a colonic, a charcoal cleanse, or a juicing cleanse. She encourages clients to begin moving, taking 15-20 minutes just to walk outside breathing deeply. She firmly believes that for each bad habit to remove, we need to replace it with a healthy habit.
What does a Raw diet look like?
It varies from person to person, some people are 100% Raw (can be vegan or not) and others like Margaret are 70% Raw. Margaret's basic schedule is below.
We have included a Raw Food breakdown below.

- Lunch- a salad with veggies, though never with more than 6 types of toppings, and if she is really hungry an afternoon snack of fruit.
- Fasts for dinner. (Not everyone needs or will benefit from fasting daily, though regular fasts are recommended to give the body a break.)
We have included a Raw Food breakdown below.
We will continue to provide articles about Raw basics with few recipes along the way. We may be a spa but we know that everything we eats effects the way our bodies will perform. Many of us are busy, and I mean busy people. We have our jobs, our children, our spouses, soccer, karate, dance and we still need time to make it to the gym. We live in our cars and so we often turn to fast food or processed food that just needs to be heated. But this type of living is quite frankly killing us. We are obese, we are tired, and we are on more medication than ever before.
Many celebs and doctors are starting to be more open to alternative ways of living and to curing or reversing medical conditions. We have a friend who was diagnosed with dementia and she switched to a Raw Diet and was able to reverse her dementia diagnoses. Many people have switched to vegan or mostly vegan diets to reverse diabetes and other cardiac conditions (Bill Clinton, Christina Pirello, etc.). To this end we will be introducing healthy recipes and encouragement in this blog and on our other social media pages.

It is hard to believe but it is already August. We have a little less than a month before school restarts and our children are back in class. Many of us have gone on vacation while others are still preparing waiting for our time away.
But what does summertime mean to you? Did you have a list of home projects that you wanted to complete? Did you plan a wedding or prepare for a baby? How is the list progressing? Have you accomplished your tasks or are you scratching your head wondering where the time has gone?
For us we love the summer with its ability to provide us with more time outside and it's slight change in schedules, but we also miss so many of our clients. Summer schedules should give us more time for self care, but we have found that many people end up spending less time on self care due to the changes in their schedules.
So we encourage you to enjoy your time with family, make memories, and take a moment or two for yourself. And if you are planning a party think of Radiance Spa for a venue or for a bit of relaxation prior to your event.

The world is made up of so many different types of people. Some people are introverts, some people are extroverts, some people live to work and others live for the weekend. Regardless of what your preferences are we all need to acknowledge that community is one of the most important aspects of what we are and having a community can improve the quality of your life. How you may ask?
I know so many of us are tired by the end of the day and all we really want to do is put our feet up and forget about the world, but if instead of vegging in front of the television we would take a 1/2 hour and call someone or go out for a coffee (decaf, you do need to sleep after-all), I think we would find that much of the stress from the day would simply fade away.
This is one of the reasons we have our Spa Parties, what better way of de-stressing is there? Bring a friend, enjoy a spa treatment together, meet other men and women who can be new friends or at least new business contacts and enjoy sampling some very wonderful products.
So if you are an introvert- take a breathe and then enjoy a lovely massage... no talking, just a wonderful masseuse working out the knots left over from the hectic week.
If you are an extrovert- Parties are your thing anyways so come and meet some wonderful people and make a new friend.
If you live to work- Think of the Party as a networking opportunity...plus being well groomed makes a wonderful first appearance thereby helping you achieve greater success.
If you live for the weekend- Think of our Spa Party as a dress rehearsal for the rest of the weekend. Get a Mani-Pedi with our shellac which will look fabulous all weekend and throughout the work week!
So now that we have convinced you how wonderful this experience is going to be here are the details:
6:00 PM, July 26, 2013 to 9:00 PM, July 26, 2013.

Do you wax? Many people do as it allows us to steer clear of razor burn and it often lasts longer than epilating. But did you know that instead of using harsh waxes with resins, there are now waxes which are more natural and cause less irritation? At Radiance Spa we use Alexandria brand Sugar Wax and here are a few reasons to choose Sugar wax and have it done at Radiance Spa!
#10. Our Sugaring Formulas are 100% natural.
Alexandria Professional™ manufactures 100% of all its sugar pastes to ensure superb and consistent quality with each and every container. There are no chemical additives, no wax resins as a "cheat add-in", and no essential oils as adding oils has no value for sugaring to extract body hair. Also, we could not endorse that our sugar pastes are deliciously edible if there were additives that could cause adverse reactions to some individuals. Safe aesthetics in sugaring is a very fundamental factor at Alexandria Professional™.#9. Our Sugar Pastes do not stick to live skin cells.
With the Alexandria technique, the sugar paste gently exfoliates only dead skin cells resulting in a much gentler sugaring even on delicate skin tissue areas like eyebrows and bikinis.
#8. Advanced Sugaring Treatments are economical.
Most clients see an immediate improvement, after the first or second sugaring, in body hair refinement and in many cases diminishment while improving the condition of their skin without the big $$$ tag associated with other body hair removal alternatives.
#7. Our Sugar Pastes are 100% water-soluble.
There is no risk of damage or staining to client's clothes, and more importantly no damage to your skin. The Alexandria sugar paste is easily washed away after sugaring with lukewarm water. You will leave your sugaring treatments feeling clean and smooth... one less thing for you to worry or think about!
#6. Trained and certified Alexandria Practitioners massage our Advanced Sugar Paste onto the skin by hand at lukewarm temperature.
No risk of burning your skin! This is where the sugaring magic begins to happen with our clients. When the sugar paste is massaged onto the skin, it allows the paste to seep into the follicles which in turn allows the body hair to "slide" out more comfortably for a complete extraction without body hair breakage. Side effect... some clients actually fall asleep during sugaring. Now that's smoooooth...!!
#5. The Alexandria Sugar Pastes are 100% hygienic.
Our certified practitioners never re-use the sugar paste and always wear gloves on both hands. Sugar paste is always discarded after each client is treated. Another great benefit to the Alexandria Sugar Pastes is that bacteria does not breed in high concentrates of sugar eliminating the possibility of cross contamination. Alexandria Professional™ is always Safe! Safe! Safe!
#4. Alexandria Professional™ Pre & After Care System is very effective.
Pre-sugaring and after-sugaring care is essential to eliminate any chance of skin reaction from the actual extraction of body hair. But, that's only one crucial factor. The other relevance to Pre & After Care is to eliminate skin irritation due to improper skin care before and after sugaring for body hair removal. All Alexandria products have been formulated, tried and tested, and proven extremely safe and effective. None of our products are tested on animals, only humans with very pleasing results. Just ask any Alexandria Professional™ Client!
#3. Our success is demonstrated on both genders of all ages, all skin colors and all body hair textures.
"From Albino skin and hair type to the toughest skin and hair type, and from 6 years of age to 87 years of age, I (Lina Kennedy) have successfully extracted every body hair type with incredible results using my Alexandria Professional™ technique and products from head to toe (with the exception of "inner ears" and eyelashes) whether it was aesthetically desired or medically requested! On this statement I give you my word...!"
#2. No need to shave between sugaring treatments and no need to let your hair grow, grow, grow.
The Alexandria technique requires only 1/16" (2mm) of hair growth for body treatments, eliminating the long wait between salon visits and customer frustration.
#1 Brand Recognition. Alexandria Professional™ produces skin conscious products that are Paraben Free, Urea Free and No Petro Chemicals with 100% consistent quality.

Since Ancient Egypt humans have explored how to heal the body, to soothe, and also what types of soothing are best. It is also in Ancient Egypt where we find the first evidences of a culture applying what we know today as the massage. The massage has been a staple for healing in a number of cultures and countries: China, Japan, India, Greece, and the Middle East. The word massage comes from a number of languages as well. The French word massage is the direct translation that we in America and Britain use today and it means "friction of kneading". The Arabic massa "to touch, feel or handle", or the Latin massa "to touch, knead", as well as the Greek masso also can all be translated into what we know as massage.
We firmly believe that massage can improve your life by releasing so much of the stress and tension that we live with daily. The therapeutic value as well as the physical value are huge. We are going to now give a brief overview of the types of massages available at Radiance Spa.
______________________________________________________________________________
Swedish
This therapy is probably one of the most common here in the United States. Swedish massage used five styles of strokes as part of the massage. They use sliding/gliding, kneading, rhythmic tapping, friction, and vibration/shaking. This massage helps with reducing pain, joint stiffness, and helps patients with osteoarthritis.
Deep Tissue
Deep Tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscles. This massage focuses deep down and is recommended for people in constant pain or athletes who repetitively repeat motions in the same muscle group. This type of massage is recommended in multiple sessions as it is counter productive to work the whole body in one session, instead you should work on area of the body at a time.
Sports
Also known as manual therapy, Sports massage is what it sounds like. This therapy helps to treat soreness and injuries in muscles and joints.
Shiatsu
Coming from the words "shi" meaning finger and "atsu" meaning pressure this Japanese treatment uses pressure, acupressure points and stretching to clear the energy meridians in the body so that energy can flow more freely. The simple explanation is that it is acupuncture without the needles.
Hot Stone
Instead of only using the hands to knead muscle and apply pressure to our acupuncture points, in Hot Stone Therapy the practitioner uses the stones to apply heat and pressure to the contact site. The heat helps to penetrate the area more deeply than our hands can.
****If you are having any pain or have any serious medical conditions we recommend that you talk with your massage therapist at the beginning of each session. This is why we ask you to fill out the forms that we do so that your experience brings you nothing but peace and tranquility.

Additional Tips
1. In just 1 tablespoon of Chia seeds, there is 1.7 grams of protein, 4.2 grams of carbohydrates, 3.1 grams of fat (1.8 grams of that is Omega 3.
2. Coconut has been known to assist the body in absorbing calcium and magnesium, making it a wonderful milk and yogurt alternative for anyone who wants to build and maintain strong, healthy bones.
3. Hemp oil contains the perfect harmony of Omega fats out of all other oils and foods providing Omegas in the diet. A deficiency in EFA’s (essential fatty acids) has been known to manifest in the form of eczema or other skin conditions. Taking hemp oil may help to heal or reverse these conditions. There are some studies that suggest it should be avoided during pregnancy and some that suggest it is a great addition, so use your discretion and consult with a nutritionist before using it as your source of omegas during pregnancy and nursing.
4. Kiwi is high in Vitamin C which helps to protect and boost the immune system. Like all fruits, it’s also high in fiber and anti-oxidants that help ward off free radicals in the body and keep you young and vibrant.
5. Just a hand full or two of strawberries will serve you up more Vitamin C than an orange, as well as trace amounts of B Vitamins and a high dose of Manganese.
