We have been encouraging you to enjoy more health conscience choices for better living and improved health, but what do you do on holiday weekends when food will be plentiful, but most of it will not be considered healthy?
Tips:
Now time for a recipe! I would probably have the cilantro on the side as so many people dislike it, but check out the link as there are lots of pictures.
Braised Anatomy's Cowboy Caviar
Ingredients
1- 15 oz can corn
1 can black beans
2 avocados (cubed)
2/3 cup chopped cilantro
8 green onion stalks, sliced
6 roma tomatoes
Dressing:
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
2 cloves minced garlic
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon cumin
Mix first 6 ingredients together. Combine dressing ingredients and pour over corn mixture. Serve with tortilla chips.
Tips:
- Don't skip the event! Being with people and chatting and talking with them is so important to our overall health and wellness.
- Instead eat something healthy before hand so that you do not eat as much of the less healthy food at the party or event.
- Bring something you know you will enjoy and that others can enjoy. Whole grain salads, Fruit Salads, or veggie salads are great options to share with others.
- Smaller portions- for some of us the desire in our minds can overwhelm our tummy's ability to stretch and when we finally give in we binge. So take a small spoonful of everything and sample it all.
